Sim Racing Wheel Bases
The definition of a wheel base in sim racing, is the core component of a force feedback racing wheel setup. It houses the motor and internal electronics responsible for generating resistance, torque, and detailed force feedback effects that simulate the feeling of real-world driving.
Unlike a complete racing wheel (which includes a rim), the wheel base itself is just the unit that provides force feedback and rotation. Many high-end wheel bases are designed to be compatible with detachable steering wheels, allowing users to swap rims based on their preferences or specific racing disciplines.
Sim Racing wheel bases come in different types, including gear-driven, belt-driven, hybrid and direct drive, each offering varying levels of force feedback strength, precision, smoothness, realism, and of cause budget.
