About Simracingfan.org

Hi there!

My name is Martin, and I am from Denmark. I created simracingfan.org because when I started my sim racing journey years ago, it was difficult for me to really understand how the sim racing genre worked. Which kind of gear do I need, which products should I choose, and how much money should I expect to spend? Also, which game should I choose, what type/series do I begin with, and where can I find more information about the possibilities?

There were definitely many more questions in the beginning, so these are just some of them, which I know many others are also asking.

I quickly found that no matter which question you try to find answers to, the information quickly gets overwhelming. Either the information is impossible to find, or the information is vague, or you just get too much information and different opinions, so that you don’t really get anywhere.

Some people tell you to start small and try different things until you find something you like, other people tell you to start off with a solid investment, because the low-budget sim racing gear is not worth it. Then, if you decide to invest in, for example, a set of sim racing pedals, you find that there are countless options. And not only that, you don’t know what the difference is between all the options.

Roadmap

Firstly, I want to gather as many relevant products as possible, and add them to a comprehensive list of products. Then, I will add metadata such as category, brand, and price. Later, I will add more data like pedals type (like load cell), wheel base torque etc. Lastly, my goal is to add simple sorting and filtering options to each product category, so that you can easily sort out irrelevant products for you, and focus on products that are within your needs/budget.

Secondly, I want to publish content that helps you make the right choice when choosing sim racing gear. For example, how much money to spend, which type of pedals to choose, which brands to consider etc.

Later on, I will create more in-depth content. It could be an in-depth walkthrough of sim racing games, an in-depth overview of whole ecosystems from brands like Asetek, Fanatec, Moza Racing etc. I may even go into actual single product reviews.

Lastly, I have a long list of tools that I want to develop and publish on this site. It could be an FOV calculator, a fuel calculator, iRacing cost calculator etc. I also have some amazing ideas for some amazing tools that can make your journey from beginner to experienced sim racer much easier! However, I’ll wait to reveal too much about these, until we get a little closer to a launch.

Final thoughts

Even though the website of the current state doesn’t look like much, I can guarantee that there are plenty of ideas to make it great. It might not be in the coming days or weeks, but I will work on developing the website continuously. As I have a background in website development, it is only a matter of time before you will see all the new content that I have on the roadmap!
